My friend Hypatia Pickens created this wonderful machinima about the Preferred Family Heathcare fundraising event that many Second Life artists and friends are part of, including me! Hypatia states, “Winter Nightfire, a prominent artist in Second Life, asked me to make this video on behalf of her “Art House,” a gallery she built of artwork donated by fellow artists in a fund raiser for ARTC, “Achieving Recovery Through Creativity.” This organization is devoted to helping children and young adults get free of substance abuse through using their artistic and other creative talents. Winter had a party in which she invited Rosedrop Rust, a prominent musician in Second Life, to sing for those who attended virtually. Brena Benoir of Preferred Family Healthcare built the display of children’s art. Donations in lindens will be given to ARTC for the purchase of art supplies.”

ARTC’s Art House

Art House is a major collaboration with 20 of SL’s best artists and creators donating art and decor to a house for ARTC. ARTC (Achieving Recovery Through Creativity) is a real life program that helps kids with drug and alcohol problems use art, creativity and virtual world counseling to recover and stay sober. It’s an incredible body of work for a good cause.

Rockcliffe University Consortium celebrates 5 years in Second Life

Congratulations to Rockcliffe University Consortium celebrating their 5 years in Second Life with an Open House of “Past, Present & Futures of Virtual Worlds” panels and workshops full of educational and encouraging thoughts from the people who engage us all to be innovative advocates. We to hope to inspire community, connections, and collaboration with comrades from all over the world! I hosted the panel on “Can Virtual Health lead to Real Life Wellness?” with guests Gentle Heron, Brena Benoir, and Thinkerer Melville. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this amazing day!

Three Year Celebration of CommonGround Networking Party!

Wow! Three years of amazing support, networking, and team building which has been one of my most favorite accomplishments in Second Life. Ethelred and I have been co-hosts of this community event, but there is a whole team of supporters that make it happen every month and more join us each time around. Just so grateful and thrilled to have the opportunity to create party themes that people enjoy and create connections via colors and common experiences. Thank you all so very much!

Gracie Kendal, who has mounted several art exhibits in Second Life about identity, has hit her mark for her latest project called 1000 Avatars. In a virtual environment, you can be anyone you want to be. Gracie has documented over 1000 unique choices that capture personalities, missions, and motives. Congrats Gracie!

As I teach people to join virtual worlds, I encourage them to represent their best self. The avatar is your personal brand and like any brand you want to create loyalty, recognition, and genuine experiences. What does your avatar’s appearance reveal about you?

The 1st Question

Wow! I was a contestant on the Second Life game show, The 1st Question! Our hosts Pooky Amsterdam and Xanshin Paz, stepping in for Hydra Shaftoe, were fun and funny while making us feel welcome and very smart. Petlove Petshop helped my fellow contestants, Colossus Linden, Keystone Bouchard, and Judi Newall, get set up and comfy for the show. It was my first time center stage on Live SL TV and I learned a lot in the process, as well as, all the exciting questions had amazing answers. The audience and my peeps were there to share their smarts and wit. I really enjoyed myself and thankful that I was asked to be on the show! What a bunch of pros that are educating and entertaining as we all feel like we can be part of what makes Second Life so affective! Wow!
