Immersive ART HOUSE machinima by Hypatia Pickens

Art House from VimPickens on Vimeo.

My friend Hypatia Pickens created this wonderful machinima about the Preferred Family Heathcare fundraising event that many Second Life artists and friends are part of, including me! Hypatia states, “Winter Nightfire, a prominent artist in Second Life, asked me to make this video on behalf of her “Art House,” a gallery she built of artwork donated by fellow artists in a fund raiser for ARTC, “Achieving Recovery Through Creativity.” This organization is devoted to helping children and young adults get free of substance abuse through using their artistic and other creative talents. Winter had a party in which she invited Rosedrop Rust, a prominent musician in Second Life, to sing for those who attended virtually. Brena Benoir of Preferred Family Healthcare built the display of children’s art. Donations in lindens will be given to ARTC for the purchase of art supplies.”

The ART HOUSE project made the Second Life Destination Guide at http://secondlife.com/destination/artc-art-house

ARTC’s Art House

Art House is a major collaboration with 20 of SL’s best artists and creators donating art and decor to a house for ARTC. ARTC (Achieving Recovery Through Creativity) is a real life program that helps kids with drug and alcohol problems use art, creativity and virtual world counseling to recover and stay sober. It’s an incredible body of work for a good cause.

ART HOUSE Fundraiser for ARTC (Achieving Recovery Through Creativity)

ART HOUSE

Brena Benoir of Preferred Family Healthcare made an announcement today at the Nonprofit Commons Meeting about the month-long ART HOUSE fundraiser for ARTC developed and designed by artist Winter Nightfire. We will have a launch party on Saturday, January 12 at 12:00 PM SLT with DJ Lynda Ultsch! I contributed my “create crayons” and one of my computer assemblages for this excellent fundraising event. Ozma Mailbu checked out my art while I was there!

About ARTC (Achieving Recovery Through Creativity) and ART HOUSE:

ARTC is an amazing Real Life program run by Second Life residents which helps children with substance abuse issues use creativity to learn to express themselves in positive ways, building a foundation for a successful life free of drugs and alcohol. ARTC has used the virtual world to showcase the kids’ Real Life artwork, which deals with some very serious topics.  You can read more about the program here: http://www.pfh.org/artc/.

ART HOUSE and its unique contents can all be yours if you are one of 3 winners of the drawing!  To enter, click on the art supplies next to the stage and make a 250L donation to ARTC, for which you will receive a special gift of art or decor for your home or favorite place in SL.  You may enter as many times as you wish — your chances get better with each donation and the gift will be different the first 5 times you enter!

Have a stroll through the house and reference the list of contributors and LMs you get when you arrive to find out where to get more art and housewares by these incredibly talented top creators of Second Life:  Gwen Carrilon, Trill Zapatero, Luciella Lutrova, Fuschia Nightfire, Nina Camplin, Aruba De Cuir, Nathan Babcock, Samara Furse-Barzane, Rik Zwiers, Alba2 Rossini, Pitsch Parx (For UrbanizeD), Zinnia Zauber, Cat Boccacio, Coughran Mayo, Milly Sharple, Dixmix Source, Eynlight, Winter Nightfire.

The Lindens raised through this event will be turned into dollars and used to buy art supplies for the kids of ARTC, whose activities are also funded by Preferred Family Healthcare, a nonprofit organization in Missouri, USA.  The premise is that anyone may enter to win the house and decor for a 250L donation to the program. When the donation is made, the entrant receives a gift of equivalent value, and his or her name will be put on a RL list kept by me and administrators of ARTC.  From this list, the administrators (hopefully with help from some of the ARTC kids) will draw 3 names of entrants who win the whole home and its contents. The drawing will be videotaped and posted on YouTube so that everyone can see it is fair, legitimate, and fun.

Please send your friends to see this awesome collaboration on behalf of the kids of ARTC!  There are lots of ways to take part in this month-long event:  Gift tickets can be purchased (you can enter your friends too!), and you can come to the ART HOUSE and donate amounts other than 250, as well. Every Linden Dollar helps and thank you for your support!

Three Year Celebration of CommonGround Networking Party!

Wow! Three years of amazing support, networking, and team building which has been one of my most favorite accomplishments in Second Life. Ethelred and I have been co-hosts of this community event, but there is a whole team of supporters that make it happen every month and more join us each time around. Just so grateful and thrilled to have the opportunity to create party themes that people enjoy and create connections via colors and common experiences. Thank you all so very much!

Please join us for a Nonprofit Commons Community Celebration at CommonGround at Aloft Nonprofit Commons with the Return of Ricken Flow as our amazing DJ!

Our party theme is “Summer of Love – Tie Dyes and Togetherness” and our theme colors are stunning rainbows and 60’s inspired hues! Dress up and join the party!

What is CommonGround? It is more than a party!

Enjoy networking and dancing among other nonprofits and supporters! Learn more about what nonprofits, educators, humanitarians, scientists, and artists accomplish in Second Life at the Nonprofit Commons at this fun and informative event.

CommonGround is a monthly event that is a special community celebration which is color themed and full of energy on the first Thursday of the month from 5 to 7 PM SLT!
